Product Description

Affordable 15m towline that has its own storage container (1L dry sack with eyelet).  The 15 meter towline allows kayakers to tow off of hard points on the deck of the kayak and is buoyant (floating rope, with cork floats to offset the weight of the metal snap hooks).

The entire line fits nicely into a 1 litre lightweight dry sack.  We have modified the bag to allow the line to be attached to the deck of the kayak and extend tangle free from the other end of the bag. The Floating rope and cork floats keep the line buoyant.

This is intended as a tow rope between two sea kayaks. Not intended as a throw rope - generally throw ropes would have a heavier rope.

If you wish to make up your own tow line, using the instructions from our YouTube, you can purchase the parts individually - see list below.
Use a length of thin string to loop & pull through the yellow rope through the cork - we did it the hard way!

Tow line comprises:

1 litre drybag with eyelet inserted (currently Red or Yellow
16 meters 4mm Floating Polypropylene rope (yellow)
2x 50mm Stainless steel Snaphooks
Eyelet
2x Corks

A bag with eyelet fitted can also be purchased.

OPTION: Change one of the snaphooks to a quick release Swivel snap shackle at the eyelet end, by checking the box above (additional cost for swivel snap shackle).

Care: Rinse in fresh water and hang to dry in shade.
It is good practice to re-coil you rope immediately after use, otherwise it is likely to become macrame in your cockpit and difficult to re-deploy.

We recommend you undertake training in rescue and towing techniques with a qualified instructor - see our Sea Starter Course

Bought assembled and used today for the first time on a club training day. It's light, compact, but strong. Easy to flush clean through the bag. Prompt delivery. Good stuff.

I received the item very promptly and in its entirety. I bought the DIY kit version and followed the excellent instructional video to quickly assemble it. Kayak Shop managed my confused queries patiently and professionally. Highly recommended!

  3. An essential item. Good value for money. Quick release is essential 4 Star Review

Good quality setup but would have been much better if the tow line had arrived ready made up. Had to figure out how to do it with no picture. The kit is good value for money. I would have put a slightly longer line on the quick release to make it easier to grab in an emergency.

  4. Great Tow Rope. DIY Kit- Excellent value for money. Recomend Quick release Shackle when you buy!! 5 Star Review

I had seen this kit, looked at getting individual stuff from here and there to save a buck, forget it!! Running around, Ebay takes to long, ... Just buy this kit!! Make it yourself, there is a great tutorial on their site. quality components, rope is awesome,
bag is great, as it can become a drogue/sea anchor in rougher waters. I tried this recently on a paddle with my kayak sail up. The corks have no problem stopping clips sinking. super compact when packed away, fits in a small day hatch, or minimal space on the deck. although postage adds to cost, buy couple extra things to save.. thanks guys for a great product.

  5. Great towline kit for sea kayak 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Jan 2015

As a beginner, or even a seasoned kayaker, I know you could get some line, clips, a bag etc and make up your own emergency tow kit line. But I got this and was very impressed with the quality of the whole makeup, it is neat/compact with proper marine floating line, stainless steel clips, float/throw ball and even rubber grommet hole protectors to feed the line from the bag. Hopefully I won't need to use this too often, but when I do, I'll be confident it will do the job, far superior to anything I could make up myself and good value, not mention time saving. Ps. and No, I don't have any connection to this company, I'm just someone who appreciates good quality and value.
